Jayne's teaching practice is varied and wide-ranging. She loves to teach what she is passionate about, whether that is theatre, calming breathing exercises or the art of teaching itself.
Higher Education:
Professor of Performance Teaching, Guildhall School of Music and Drama (October 2019 - present)
Jayne is currently employed as a lecturer on the PGCert Performance Teaching course at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. The Masters-level course focuses on the pedagogy of performance and equips performance teachers with the skills and theory to develop excellent teaching practice.

Teaching on BA Theatre and Performance Studies course:

Applied Theatre unit: Planning and delivering workshops on working with older adults / intergenerational arts projects and theatre and creative arts for health and well-being

Politics of Performance unit: Delivering seminars on agitprop theatre, theatre and activism, Brechtian theatre practices, theatre as a mechanism of soft-power, intersection between theatre and pedagogy and participatory practices

Visiting Lecturer and Placement host, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (2011-2016)
Jayne was a visiting lecturer on the MA Applied Theatre course at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama delivering seminars on, 'Working with different groups of young people; creating a safe space' and 'Applied Theatre and the Panopticon space.' She hosted and mentored BA Drama and Applied Theatre students and MA Applied Theatre students who worked with young-people to help develop their confidence and build aspirations.
School and community based:
Jayne originally qualified as a secondary school Drama teacher in 2007. Since then she has developed a proven track record of outstanding teaching that adds value to young people's learning. Her teaching and leadership is firmly rooted in creating a space where young people can feel empowered as active learners. As well as undertaking management roles as a Head of Department and Head of Faculty, she is also an experienced teacher trainer having worked alongside Middlesex University and the Institute of Education as a Subject Mentor to deliver teacher training to beginning teachers.
In 2018 Jayne set up Stomping Space to provide well-being, nature and arts experiences for young-people and their families in her local community. She is a qualified Baby Massage and Infant and Pre-School Yoga teacher, has completed Bushcraft and Ecology courses and regularly delivers forest-school inspired activities and outdoor holiday clubs in her local area.
